Before she could even read, she already knew what she wanted to be: a mommy who tells stories. That answer never really changed — it just evolved. The love of storytelling grew alongside a fascination with storms, and somewhere along the way, a degree in Radio, Television, and Digital Media from Southern Illinois University Carbondale started to feel like the perfect marriage of both. She'd grown up watching Twister on repeat and never missing an episode of Storm Stories, and a career chasing storms for television felt like the natural next chapter.

Life had other ideas. She met her husband, put down roots in rural Southern Illinois — the place she'd always assumed she'd leave — and the path shifted. The camera gave way to the keyboard, and the stories she'd always wanted to tell finally found the form they were meant to take.

It was watching her daughter grow up that made it feel urgent. She couldn't look her in the eye and say chase your dreams unapologetically while quietly setting her own aside. So she stopped setting them aside.

The Weathered Hearts series is where everything landed. Each book puts two people inside a different kind of storm — the kind that strips away every excuse not to be honest. The wounds her characters carry are ones she understands personally, and the small communities they come from are ones she knows from the inside: the good, the bad, the ugly, and the parts that are absolutely beautiful.

When she's not writing, she's with her husband and daughter, tending her homestead, or watching the radar roll in — always with one eye on the sky.
